The majestic peaks of the Tyrolean Alps greet me as I set off. My trip to Austria starts in the north, in the shadow of the imposing Nordkette mountain range, and I plan my first stop in the capital of Tyrol: Innsbruck.
In northern Austria: Innsbruck
After an outstanding meal, I was invigorated for a stroll through the picturesque old town and a visit to the impressive Golden Roof. The reception team was extremely attentive and helped me plan my excursion.
Active vacation in Austria? Zell am See!
My next route took me over narrow passes and winding roads to Zell am See. The charming vacation resort in Austria lies at the foot of the Schmittenhöhe mountain and directly on the Kaprun lake. An expansive view of the mountainous panorama and the serene lake is assured here – making it a must for a photo session!
The Elements Resort Zell am See was my home base for the stay. Thanks to its excellent location, I was able to leave my car at the hotel and explore the surrounding area on foot. The Areit Xpress gondolas were just a few minutes’ walk away and made my personal mountaineering moment easier. The view from the top is priceless! In the evening, the hotel offers delicious culinary delights and a relaxing wellness area.
Culture greets nature in: Salzburg
The pleasure capital of Austria: Graz
Not convinced yet? Perhaps the Best Western Hotel Strasser, my chosen accommodation during the journey, might sway your decision. The hotel enchants with its historic walls and pompous Mediterranean flair, playful Art Nouveau style and modern amenities. An ingenious mix that is rounded off by its central location.
The capital of Austria: Vienna
The last stop on my trip was the capital of Austria and cultural stronghold Vienna. You could easily fill a week with sightseeing here, so I opted for the classics. After a detour to the Café Demel and an excellent, original Sacher cake, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the magnificent palaces told me stories from past centuries. The Austrian National Library was also a visual highlight! If you find yourself with extra time, I also recommend a visit to Vienna’s underground! Brace yourself for an eerie adventure and embark on a guided tour of the subterranean cellars.
Austria is always worth a trip and a road trip through the hotspots of the Alpine country is undeniably rewarding! To ensure it remains enjoyable and not overly hectic, consider allocating more time per location. This way, you can make the most out of your round trip.
From the majestic peaks of the Tyrolean Alps in Innsbruck to the cultural splendor of Vienna, each stop offered unique experiences. If you’re thinking about moving to Vienna, learn more about what the city has to offer.
