Haan, often referred to as a garden city due to its proximity to the Neandertal valley and its meticulously maintained green areas, boasts a charming city center. My time at Café König, situated right on Kaiserstraße, was incredibly peaceful. Besides the delightful cappuccino brewed from their portafilter machine, they also offer an extensive array of cakes and pies!

Wellness retreats are almost indispensable for a time-out characterized by relaxation. Hence, following my visit to the café, I set out to explore the hotel’s dedicated relaxation amenities and discovered exactly what I had hoped for.
Heat treatments
In addition to the classic sauna, the hotel also offers an infrared cabin – of course I couldn’t resist! An infrared treatment is indeed a wellness application, but it offers much more than just relaxation. The warm rays provide stimulated blood circulation and promote the body’s immune system. The soothing warmth is also helpful for tension or skin problems. In my book, it deserves a perfect score of 10 stars! I wholeheartedly recommend it.
The Pool at Best Western Plus Hotel Stadtquartier Haan
Swimming enthusiasts will be delighted to find a pool right within the hotel. The pool’s depth allows adults to stand comfortably, and the poolside area provides a perfect spot for some peaceful relaxation. I also appreciated the various seating arrangements around the pool, offering a wonderful opportunity to dive into a good book or simply close your eyes for a refreshing half-hour.
The “Vabali Spa”
My Haan excursion reached its zenith with a day pass to the Vabali Spa in nearby Düsseldorf. This exclusive wellness haven boasts 10 saunas, 2 steam baths, 2 pools, and numerous tranquil chambers—a must-visit for any wellness enthusiast! The aesthetics alone are persuasive, as authentic interior design imparts an oriental and profoundly soothing ambiance. From the suspended ceilings by the pool to the sunlit outdoor terraces and tastefully adorned relaxation areas, I was transported to a different realm, replenishing my energy reserves. This brief jaunt proved just as rejuvenating as a week by the beach!
